The reign of Cyrus the Great started around 560/559 BC and lasted about thirty years, so his reign began around the age of 40 years old. Daniel lived from around 620 to 538 BC, about 82 years, and had a vision in the third year of Cyrus (557 BC – Daniel 10:1) Daniel would have been around 63 years old at that time. — Cyrus built his empire by first conquering the Median Empire, then the Lydian Empire, and eventually the Neo-Babylonian Empire.
