The Abbasid Caliphate ruled the longest from 750 to 1517.
However, in 1258 they received a deadly wound, and that deadly wound lasted for 3 years.
The capital of the Abbasid Caliphate was in Baghdad, (current day Iraq), but it was sacked by the Mongols in 1258, and the leading Caliph Al-Musta’sim was killed.
The Islamic Caliphate had never been defeated since it rose up after the death of Muhammad in 632, until the Mongols invaded the Middle East.
The Abbasid line of rulers, and Muslim culture in general, re-centred themselves in the Mamluk capital of Cairo in 1261, re-establishing the Abbasid Caliphate.
750 to 1258 = 508 years
1261 to 1517 = 256 years
Total = 764 years.

The Abbasid Caliphate ended in 1517 when it was defeated by the Ottoman Empire. which gave birth to the Ottoman Caliphate.
The Ottoman Caliphate lasted for 407 years.

March 3, 1924, was the official day that the Ottoman Caliphate was abolished, even though the Ottoman Empire ended on November 1, 1922, at which time the Caliph was exiled.

If those 3-years were not lost, the length of the Abbasid Caliphate would have been 767 years total, and that would have pushed the calculations past the 1290 year mark.
